Executive Summary
The People's Health Clinic provides free, high-quality health care to the uninsured residents of Summit and Wasatch Counties, Utah. The Clinic is located in Park City, a ski resort town that has a tremendous wealth gap. Most patients are undocumented immigrants from Mexico, Central and South America, who have survived terrifying journeys across multiple boarders to escape extreme violence. The Clinic is an essential safety net for these community members who work more than one job but still live in poverty. Because of their undocumented status, they are unable to qualify for government subsides like Medicaid. The Clinic's mission is to achieve health equity for this underserved and vulnerable patient population.
The Clinic has award-winning and internationally recognized programs designed to resolve health care disparities including specialty services for diabetes, hypertension, women's health, and mental health. In 2023, we provided 13,100 patient encounters with 3000 individual community members served, and attended over 40 community engagement events. The organization believes strongly in the power of collective impact to address the social determinants of health such as poverty, food insecurity, housing insecurity, language and health literacy barriers.
The Clinic's work is deeply personal. For several of our employees, the patients are their family members. Our employees are the first generation in their households to graduate from high school or college, and they are driven to give back to this community as future medical providers and leaders. Together, we are building a community that empowers all members to live healthy and fulling lives.
