Executive Summary
Peace is Loud is a women-led non profit organization who’s community consists of women, trans and non-binary organizers, filmmakers and activists who recognize that collective action is central to our freedom, and whose work moves us closer to that liberation.
The organization’s staff and board are filmmakers, artists, gender and environmental justice advocates, and community organizers who hold intersecting marginalized identities. We drive collective action by enhancing the social impact of documentary films and through our speakers bureau. Specifically, we:
* Sustain the work of marginalized storytellers by making sure they are fairly compensated for their labor and that their standards of care are upheld.
* Work in solidarity with community organizers, leveraging visual stories as tools to strengthen the work of our partners through a care-centered framework.
* Connect storytellers and organizers, providing the infrastructure needed to build collective power and advance their narrative change work.
Through this support our Speakers Bureau has generated over $3 million in income for storytellers and connected speakers with audiences around the world. Our Film Impact Campaigns have led to broad social change — from creating legislation supporting gender equality in the U.S to increasing the number of women running for local office Democratic Republic of Congo.
We prioritize the health and safety of the vulnerable populations who make narrative change possible, because we know that with adequate care and resources we can build power around a narrative of equity and dignity for all that transforms social and political structures.
