Executive Summary

Lynn's population is mainly comprised of people from the Global Majority with an ever growing number of immigrant residents. Pathways is the largest and longest standing Adult Education provider on the North Shore of Massachusetts and is well known within Lynn as the place to go for adults to receive educational and language support. There is huge demand for our classes with many waiting 3+ years to get into our classes. Pathways is a community led organization. 10 of our 21 staff members come from our community, four of them are graduates of our program! In our board leadership, five of our nine board members are from the Lynn community and three of those are graduates from our program.

In our 40 years of programming, we have served over 15,000 individuals with basic education, English language classes, digital literacy and workforce development and helped more than 3,000 adults obtain their high school equivalency degree and/or technical and vocational certification. For our program participants and their families, this means they are able to get a job, or get a better job; they are able to advocate for themselves and their families; they are able to read to their children and help them with homework; and most importantly they are able to engage more fully with the wider Lynn community to both shape the future of our community and find resources they need to better their lives.
