Executive Summary
Gender Justice works to advance gender equity through the law. We work to create a world where everyone can thrive regardless of gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation. That vision includes access to healthcare, economic opportunities, bodily autonomy, and freedom from violence. We work to dismantle the legal, structural, and cultural barriers that contribute to gender-based oppression.
Since 2010, we have built a powerful model that combines impact litigation, policy advocacy, public education, movement building, grassroots organizing, and narrative change. We help evolve state law through our strategic and impact litigation. Our cases address discrimination against transgender clients, undocumented immigrants, women in traditionally male-dominated trades, pregnant and postpartum workers, low-income tenants, and more.
Beyond the courts, we utilize the legislature to create social change; develop and advocate for new policies that transform how our country addresses gender injustice; and mobilize grassroots support to win new policies to advance gender equity. By organizing for meaningful reform in Minnesota and North Dakota, we work to change public opinion on gender. We build partnerships with other organizations that share the goal of breaking down gender barriers and engage cross-movement tables of allies. We provide education that brings people critical information about their rights, changes in the law, and gender oppression.
This has led to sweeping changes for gender equity that has reduced gender-based discrimination and violence, in turn eliminating key barriers to healthcare access and economic success.
