Executive Summary

The Fair Food Program (FFP), the internationally recognized gold standard in social responsibility created by farmworkers in Florida, ensures the human rights and dignity of the women and men harvesting our produce. On FFP farms, workers, growers, and corporate buyers collaborate to provide a safe, respectful environment for farmworkers with standards based on workers' experiences. The Fair Food Standards Council (FFSC) safeguards workers’ rights to work free of forced labor, gender-based violence, harassment, discrimination, and health and safety violations, backed by the real market consequences embedded in the Program’s structure. The FFSC also serves as a mentoring and evaluating organization for new programs and standards councils in other industries, including dairy, construction, and textile. Leaders in these industries are aspiring to implement the Worker-driven Social Responsibility (WSR) model, established by the FFP as the flagship program, with the hope of bringing long-term, structural change for vulnerable workers in the US and around the world. Now with ten years of a proven track record, the FFP is poised for tremendous growth. In the last two years alone, the FFP expanded to include new farms in Chile and South Africa, as well as Maryland, Colorado, California, and North Carolina. The FFP receives frequent inquiries from new farms as well as buyers hoping to bring more of their supply chain into the program. Currently, we seek support for the first phase of growth – expanding our team, infrastructure, and presence across new regions and industries – of the FFP and WSR model.
