Executive Summary
Gender inequality impacts millions of people around the world. The roots of these gender inequalities lie in children’s early years, as gender stereotypes already start to impact their lives, shaping and steering their expectations, opportunities, and choices.
In order for all children to be able to develop to their full potential, regardless of their sex, the intervention will ensure that 150,000 young children from India, Kenya, and Zambia will benefit from play-based and gender-transformative early learning and development environments that challenge harmful gender roles, norms, and power relations.
The intervention will build the capacity of 1500 ECE center practitioners on play-based and gender-transformative teaching practices and provide support to 750 school leaders and center managers to create conducive environments for such practices. Through community outreach to 37,500 parents, the intervention will strengthen the understanding and support of local communities and build their capacities to use gender-transformative parenting practices at home.
