Executive Summary
Refugee children face a challenging start to life, having been exposed to loss and trauma at an early age. Their enrollment rate in primary school is low (at 68%) leaving millions without an education.
Cohere has partnered with refugee-led organizations (RLOs) to design an intervention enabling RLOs to reach children in their communities. The program provides refugee children with early-stage education and social and emotional learning in an engaging, proven, deployable and cost-efficient way. Cohere's online Reframe platform showcases the work of RLOs and provides them with the tools they need to transform their communities.
Cohere has also partnered with Enuma School to install software on locally manufactured tablets, which Cohere has distributed to 278 RLOs to reach 400,000 children. In addition, RLOs will enroll caregivers in a text-message-based training course so they can then help children develop social and emotional skills. Most importantly, this project will put control and resources into the hands of educators who understand the nuanced needs of their communities' most vulnerable children.
